Cell Phones
Students and teachers are asked to turn off their cell phones while in the studio unless they are waiting for an emergency phone call. Also, there is to be no checking for text messages, etc. in between back-to-back classes.
Parents are asked to turn off or mute their cell phone and refrain from their use when in a classroom.
Attendance
If your child must miss a class, we would appreciate a phone call. A missed class may be forfeited or it may be made up. There is a schedule on the wall in the studio office as well as here on the website.
If your child comes to take a makeup lesson, please tell the teacher you are there. Otherwise the teacher may not realize that your child is there, and won’t let them know when to come in for the class. The decision to makeup is yours, but credit is not given for missed lessons.
A Perfect Attendance ribbon will be presented to every child who attends or makes up all classes in any one subject from August through May. Their name will also be listed in the recital program. Those who achieve ten years and fifteen years of perfect attendance will receive a plaque. If taking more than one class, only one needs to be made up for perfect attendance. Labor Day, Halloween, Thanksgiving Day, Memorial Day, and bad weather days do not have to be made up for perfect attendance.
Newsletter
Each month you will receive a Merrilee Studios newsletter. It will be emailed to you the weekend before the fourth week of every four week period. Please check your email and be sure you are receiving it. If you are not, please check your spam folder before contacting us.
The Newsletter is extremely important.
It will tell you everything that is going on and what is coming up. Information may include costume payment dates, recital and picture dates, new policies, new classes or just general information. Please look for it!
Observation of Classes by Parents
For most classes the parents are invited to watch the last 5 minutes of each class. School aged Tumbling classes are the exception. For these classes, parents are invited to observe the entire class the 4th week of every four week period.
Following this schedule will insure that your child receives the very best lesson, and you will be able to observe the progress made. If this does not fit into your schedule, please talk to your child’s teacher. We want parents to feel welcome, but your child will do much better if you do not observe the entire class every week.
Photos and Video Recording
Occasionally classes will be photographed or video recorded. These photos and videos may possibly be used on the studio website, Facebook, or for general publicity purposes. If you have any concerns about this, please speak with Mary or Lida about it.
Scent-Free Dance Studio
All students and parents are asked not to wear perfume, cologne, or scented lotions in the studio. Mary has asthma that is set off by these scents. In talking to people about this problem, it seems that there are many others who have a similar problem, so we ask your cooperation to have a totally scent free studio. For students who take classes from Mary, please do not use any strongly scented laundry detergents or dryer sheets or any heavily scented hair care products. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated. Please remember even a small amount of scented lotion or perfume is enough to set off Mary’s asthma.
Waiting for Students
While the students are in classes, parents are invited to wait for them in the large downstairs waiting room, which has plenty of tables, seating, and outlets for laptops and other electronics. There are a few chairs in the upstairs lobby for those who have trouble with steps.
Parking
Parking is available along the street and in the lot behind the grass across the street. It is not available in the lot between the studio and Rte. 89. This lot is owned by the funeral home. Mason Funeral Home does not want anyone but their clients using the lot. Unfortunately, if you use it, your car may be towed at your expense.
